Our Team

  • David Duhaney-Walters

    David Duhaney-Walters gained 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry, where he carved out his reputation as a compliance leader. In 2016, he joined the cannabis industry and progressed to Director, Regulatory Affairs & Compliance at Starseed Medicinal Inc. During his time in the cannabis industry David maintained a 100% compliance rating over the course of twelve (12) Health Canada targeted inspections, including a pre-licencing inspection. David is also a Security Clearance Holder under the Cannabis Act and its regulations, and has successfully held the roles of Responsible Person, Quality Assurance Person, Master Grower, and Head of Security. In his eight year tenure in the cannabis space, David has successfully applied for the following licensing classes: Standard Cultivation, Standard Processing, Sale for Medical Purposes, Research, and Industrial Hemp, under the Cannabis Regulations, and, Retail Operators Licence, and Retail Sales Licence, under the Cannabis Licence Act, 2018.

  • Noah Tewelde

    Noah Tewelde is a results-oriented leader with 13’ years of progressive experience in financial services. Senior level background in Strategy, Sales Leadership, Customer Experience, Profit & Loss Management, Finance and Reporting & Analytics. Noah is most known for building high performing teams, with the capacity to guide and inspire others to achieve results. During his time, Noah has understood the importance of a customer focused approach firsthand and is now helping to shape new heightened experiences for consumers in the cannabis industry.

Our Story

Central Plains Cannabis was founded on compassion, a value that has been our driving force before we were even a company.

In 2016, founding director and CEO David Duhaney-Walters started his professional cannabis journey by departing the financial services industry to pursue the new world of legal cannabis. After working for Mettrum Ltd., Canopy Growth Gorp., and then Starseed Medicinal Inc., access to medical cannabis became a passion of his. Destined to help people on their well-being journey, Central Plains Cannabis supports the community members of Durham Region Peterborough South, and Northumberland.

When the opportunity came about to operate within Canada’s new legal framework, Central Plains Cannabis was born. Working with craft licence holders across Canada, we provide strategic partnership opportunities to amplify our accessibility to a wide range of products to support our e-commerce platform to meet patient needs.

Part of Central Plains Cannabis mission is to supply members with as much variety as possible. Cannabis is a very personal experience, and it takes patience to find the right products. When onboarding new suppliers, we invest the time to evaluate their offerings and determine how we can bring the best products to our members at the lowest possible price, while still supporting producers big and small.
